Us homelabbers constantly battle with two things. Heat, and noise (and sometimes power, like those with fully populated 42U racks and no regard for their wallets).
I personally have a Dell Poweredge R610, and whilst it’s not as loud as my now decommissioned R410, it sure does manage to be audible throughout the entire house on a hot summer day inside my garage.
That is where this handy script comes into play. Written by Github user NoLooseEnds, it allows you to control your fan speeds via IPMI

Don’t let the file names fool you, this worked fine with my R610, and I can only assume it’ll work for other newer generations too. YMMV
